Dr. Lee to Speak in Cheyenne in September

Cheyenne (WCJA) -- The Wyoming Criminal Justice Association is pleased to announce two outstanding keynote speakers for their annual conference, September 11 and 12, in Cheyenne: Dr. Henry Lee and Sheriff Fred Wegener.

The legendary investigator, Dr. Henry Lee, is known for finding the tiniest clues and has even solved a murder without a body. Over the past 40 years Dr. Lee has assisted in investigations of more than 6,000 cases, including war crimes in Bosnia and Croatia, the suicide of President Clinton's former White House attorney, Vince Foster, review of the JFK assassination, and the death of JonBennet Ramsey.

"It is really exciting that we can draw Dr. Lee to Wyoming for this conference," said Kacey Gallagher, WCJA president. "I hope that many people take advantage of this opportunity to hear a nationally known investigator speak."

Sheriff Fred Wegener was in command during the September 27, 2006 hostage situation and fatal shooting at Platte County High School in his home town of Bailey, Colorado. He has spent more than two decades in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff, sergeant and then investigator. He currently serves as sheriff of Park County, Colorado.

Additional training sessions over the two days include Juvenile Justice with Craig Jones, Deputy District Attorney; Wyoming Amber Alert with Tim Olsen, Division of Criminal Investigation; TASER Familiarization with SSgt Kevin Gallagher; Offender Manipulation with George Keisel and Robert Smith; Problem Solving Courts with Judge Gary P. Hartman; Wyoming Street Gangs 101 with Elvin Ehrhardt, Division of Criminal Investigation; DNA 101: What you Really Need to Know with Christina Rauzi and Kathyrn Normington, Division of Criminal Investigation; and many more.

The Wyoming Criminal Justice Association (WCJA) provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and promotes professionalism, pride and personal growth throughout Wyoming's correctional, law enforcement, medical, mental and substance abuse health professionals, victim advocates, prosecutors, public defenders, juvenile detention centers, local jails and restorative systems through training, networking and simple communications. The WCJA welcomes participation and membership from anyone involved in these areas of work and interest.

The conference will be held at the Plains Hotel in Cheyenne, on Thursday and Friday, September 11 and 12. The conference fee is $120 and includes a one-year membership for the Wyoming Criminal Justice Association. P.O.S.T.
training hours and C.E.U.'s have been applied for. Special room rates are available at the Plains Hotel until August 29. A murder mystery dinner can also be purchased for Thursday, September 11.
