Rockies Designate P Redman for Assignment
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies designated pitcher Mark Redman for assignment on Friday, while calling up pitcher Juan Morillo from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The 34-year-old Redman was 2-5 this season with a 7.54 earned run average in 10 games -- 9 starts -- for the Rockies. Redman was optioned to Colorado Springs earlier in the year after starting the season 2-3 with a 7.84 ERA in seven games
The journeyman left-hander owns a 68-85 career record with a 4.85 ERA in 219 games throughout his 10 seasons with Colorado, Atlanta, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Oakland, Florida, Detroit and Minnesota.
Morillo, 24, will begin his third major league stint with the club having logged scoreless appearances in three of his four outings in 2007. He also started a game for Colorado in 2006, allowing seven runs in four innings in his major-league debut. |
